Background Inspiration

Al'Paco is a lifestyle brand that emphasizes the importance of ethical, long lasting goods in a world of fast fashion. Our products are made from authentic and ethically obtained alpaca fleece that is sourced from Peru. Alpaca wool is shorn from the animals once a year and is necessary to maintain their health. The alpacas are treated with the utmost case by professional animal groomers and shearers. Given the animals' natural habitat residing in the Andes Mountains in Peru, our brand identity was inspired by Pre-Columbian PEruvian textiles and the textures of woven goods. As for the brand name, we based the name and spelling on the alternative spelling of the animal, "Alpaco."

CONCEPT SKETCHES

Throughout the design process, the logomark of Al'Paco is ultimately what went through the most rounds of revisions. The concept of the logo was to combine the two main ideas of our brand identity: alpaca wool and woven goods made from them. By combining the visuals of a ball of yarn and an alpaca's face, we were able to synthesize these two unlikely images into a mark that is both identifiable and charming to viewers.
